Settling Down in Canberra: Day 3 & 4

Day 3
Saturday was rather a plain day to kill time. A lot of buses cut down on their operation frequency during weekends, and no bus operates in the late evening. So it’s pointless of me going to the campus or city centre. Anyhow it was also the day of accommodation contract commences. More international students would be checking into UniGardens. I was also told that I would be able to move into a permanent room on Saturday. So after packing all my stuffs, I went to reception only to find out that my room would be occupied until next Monday. Sigh.

Got my Concession Monthly Bus Ticket from UniGardens. All residents of UniGardens have the privilege to get this ticket and travel to wherever, whenever we like. And still the Apex Internet service was not activated yet though I already paid on the first day. The reception said it would only be done on coming Monday as well.

I couldn’t buy kitchen utensil yet cause I thought of talking my roommate into an agreement that we would share the cost of it. Save the money! Meanwhile, I have to rely on packed foods for the coming few more days. Again, I went to Belconnen Mall (I guess it would be my next top hangout place, for food). Bought the following:

2.    KRAFT Peanut Butter 780g: A$5.99
3.    Bürgen Rye Bread (17 slices): A$4.79
4.    Cotton Bath Mat (Oval): A$6.61
5.    Woolworths Select Raspberry Jam 500g: A$2.99
6.    Woolworths Select Blackberry Jam 500g: A$2.99
(Woolworths Jam Offer, Any 2 for A$5): -A$0.98

Day 4
Saw the first pest in bathroom today! Cockroach! Meet my new friend - the only other inhabitant in my room so far. Urm, but I killed it not long after that. Felt so guilty but I seriously HATE COCKROACH!

Talking about pest, I realized that there’s no mosquitoes nor ants in my room. That’s great! Because back in my house in Malaysia, it’s invaded by ants. You leave food on the table and minutes after, it’s full of ants. Really annoying. They actually installed mosquito net on every window, how thoughtful of them.
