Au revoir, P sticker!

P

I've just completed 2 years of probational driving! From today onwards I get to drive my car with pride and bold confidence, no more bullies and honks from other drivers! (though I don't usually encounter these situations)

The nearest JPJ (Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan) office is located in the vicinity of Taman Jaya, which is near to the high school I went to. I arrived around 4.20pm, and the security guard offered me a number slip (1802) without taking my queue. Surprised and confused, I noticed that the number slip was printed at 3.44pm. There were a lot of people waiting for their turns, and the number appeared on the screen that time was 1792. My jaw dropped.

The process of upgrading your probational license to a C.D.L (Competent Driving License) takes no more than 5 minutes! The lady didn't even require me to show my I.C for verification.

Anyway, these are the general tips for you if you're to upgrade your license in the future.

  1. Bring your I.C (just in case), and one passport-sized photo.
  2. License validity can be extended up to 5 years. Renewal of each year costs RM30. So a 5-years one-time renewal would cost you RM150. Bring enough cash!
  3. You don't have to surrender your probational license after the upgrade is done. So keep it for memory. (Same applies to your learner's license)
And yeah, I gave RM5 to the security guard as duit kopi. Cheaper than you asking an agent (eg. driving academy) to do it for you!

I'm an OFFICIAL C.D.L holder!
